Our dream skin is one that is supple and lifted, smooth and refined. One that is rich with our own natural collagen. What is collagen? Collagen is a key structural component that keeps skin looking youthful and smooth. As we age, the body’s collagen production decreases and we begin to see wrinkles and hollow areas in the face.
Research study shows that at the age of 25 the natural production of collagen in the body starts to decrease by 1.5% a year resulting in a loss of collagen. This rate of loss of collagen may not look alarming at first but basically this would mean that by the time you reach the age of sixty you have lost 50% of this vital protein. This explains the age-related changes we see with time, from dull skin, sunken hollows to fine lines and deep wrinkles.
What is the concept behind Dream Sculpture?
Dream Sculpture is the technique of using Sculptra to boost your skin’s own collagen production so it will stay young, supple and lifted for longer. The concept behind Sculptra is that it is a natural collagen stimulator. It works not as a filler or as botulinum toxin (BOTOX®) but as a ‘fertilizer’ for your skin to produce your own collagen over time (4-6 weeks).
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is made of Poly-L-lactic acid, which is a biocompatible (does not harm the body) and biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body) compound. It is broken down with time and there is no trace of Sculptra in your body over time. However, the collagen that it stimulates your body to produce stay for a long time. Depending on your age and the number of treatments you have undergone, results can last from 2-3 years. This is not an animal product and does not need skin testing prior to use.

What is Dream Sculpture treatment like?
A numbing cream is applied to the treated area for 10-15 minutes. During the treatment, cold compresses are used to ensure your maximal comfort and to minimize possibility of bruising. Injections of Sculptra are meticulously placed in selected areas on the face that will benefit most from the collagen stimulation effects. By distributing Sculptra over the vital framework of your face, Dream Sculpture helps to ensure your skin is maximally rejuvenated in time to come. The results of Dream Sculpture are not apparent immediately as this is not a dermal filler; furthermore, collagen requires time to grow.
From your very first treatment, Sculptra begins to work deep in the dermis where your skin’s structure is reinforced as Sculptra helps to replace lost collagen. This reinforced collagen structure provides a foundation that gradually restores the look of fullness of your shallow to deep wrinkles and hollow areas which will be apparent about 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment. To reap maximal benefits and optimal results from Dream Sculpture, a series of sessions may be necessary. For your ideal Dream Sculpture regime, please make an appointment for a consultation with our doctors at SW1 Clinic.
Is there any downtime?
As with all injections, there is a possibility of pin-prick marks and occasionally, bruising which can be concealed with cosmetics post-treatment. However, these can be minimized with proper precautions such as the use of Arnica and cold compresses, and the avoidance of certain medications and alcohol. A post-treatment protocol will be given to you to help ensure your recovery is uneventful and comfortable. Should bruising occur, you may request for an anti-bruise Vbeam Perfecta laser treatment to help speed up the resolution of any bruising.
Who should not do Dream Sculpture?
You should not use Sculptra if you are allergic to any ingredient of the product. (Consult with your doctor regarding ingredients and allergies.) Do not use this too if you have a history of keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring.
Is Dream Sculpture for you?
Sculptra used in Dream Sculpture protocol is a stimulant of your own collagen and may provide several years of facial enhancement for hollows, wrinkles and lines. However, Sculptra takes several months to show results whereas other materials such as hyaluronic acid fillers will produce an immediate improvement. Dream Sculpture is therefore an ideal treatment for patients who would like natural collagen effects and who are looking for long term enhancement of their skin.
As Dream sculpture does not produce immediate volume replacement unlike dermal fillers, this can be good for patients who do not want the plumping effect of fillers but a gradual age-reversal effect on thinning and collagen depleted skin.
