3 best lifting treatments for your face

In AESTHETIC TREATMENTS, Beauty, LASER, NON-SURGICAL FACELIFT

Living in the 21st century, I think it’s safe to say we’re constantly lost for choices, be it fashion, skincare and even (dare I say) partners. Always on the hunt for quick and convenient solutions, we simply do not have the patience to wait it out for results to present themselves.

Which is no wonder where even in the world of aesthetics, aesthetics trends are constantly evolving to catch up with what consumers are looking for. Fast, painless, little to no downtime and natural looking – these make up the basic requests for almost every patient that walks in through our doors.

One of our popular treatments at SW1 are facelifts and we aren’t talking about the surgical kind. Why go under the knife when you can achieve a more holistic result sans surgery, anaesthesia and long recovery times. Facelifts are a great way to eliminate the signs of aging by targeting the sagging areas on your face, usually the cheeks, jowls and neck. Depending on where and how your skin is sagging, there is a different option for every individual.  We share our top 3 lifting treatments in this article.

Thermage

Having been around since 2002, Thermage uses radiofrequency energy to stimulate the production of collagen. Thermage is FDA approved for the non-invasive treatment of facial wrinkles, which makes it an excellent procedure for smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines, refining skin texture and tightening it on various parts of the face and body. If your main concerns include saggy faces, and / or crepey, wrinkly eyelids and eyebag, this would be the recommended option for you.

The treatment generally takes about 60-90 minutes depending on the treatment areas with numbing cream applied prior to maximise the patient’s comfort. During the treatment, it’s normal to feel a deep heating sensation each time the treatment tip touches your skin. Your skin should feel tighter and firmer after the treatment with optimal results occurring over 2 to 3 months.

Results may last anywhere from 2 years or even longer depending on the individual’s aging process.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy commonly confused with Thermage, also stimulates the production of collagen but that’s where the similarity ends. Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy for a deeper penetration into the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System or SMAS for a more dramatic and noticeable skin tightening. Thanks to the use of ultrasound energy, the doctor performing this treatment has more control over the depth of the treatment for each patient, focusing on the areas where skin tightening is required.

Ultherapy is an FDA-approved skin tightening procedure, effective for treating areas such as the neck, chin and brow area. If sagging skin on the cheeks, and folds around the nose and mouth are your primary concerns, this treatment would be recommended for you.

Similarly to Thermage, the treatment takes about 60 minutes, with the aid of numbing cream to improve patient’s comfort level. Patients feel a warm sensation on their skin during the treatment with some slight flushing after the treatment. However, this disappears within a few hours, with best skin tightening results seen in about 2-3 months after treatment.

NeoGen Plasma

Known as a cutting-edge skin rejuvenating treatment, NeoGen employs a unique nitrogen plasma technology to provide consistent, controlled rapid heating over treated areas, stimulating collagen reproduction and restoring skin elasticity.

One of the key benefits of NeoGen is that it’s safe enough to be used around the eye areas, significantly improving the appearance of crow’s feet and even tired and droopy eyelids. Other benefits enjoyed by patients who undergo this treatment include diminished appearance of acne scars, surgical scars and even pigmentation and melasma.

This treatment is fairly comfortable with numbing cream applied prior. The treatment is mostly described as a warm blast of air, with skin appearing mildly flushed or red after. One is recommended to return to normal activities 1-2 days after treatment, paying special attention to applying sun protection to the skin. For optimal results, 3 to 5 sessions done regularly at 4 to 6 weeks’ intervals is ideal.
